2017 marked our 19th year— Once again we teamed up with Alki Masonic Center in West Seattle. On Christmas Day we opened the dining room, offering a hot meal and entertainment for any homeless, senior citizen or any other person who chose to join us. Over 150 persons attended our Christmas Day Dinner. The doors were open from Noon to 4pm. Marc Smason and company provided musical entertainment. This proved to be another fantastic opportunity to share a meal, fellowship and love with those in need.
In addition to this meal, The Christmas People provided 1600 meals to homeless shelters in the Greater Seattle Area. We distributed an estimated 7600 home baked cookies. Our helpful volunteers logged over 360 hours of combined labor making preparations in the kitchen. We had the help of about 100 families in West Seattle who made cookies and helped with the cooking, serving, delivering and sitting with those who were alone. All Meals are provided at no cost as a community service.
Without the help of our many volunteers and financial assistance, projects like this would just remain a dream. Our dream comes true each each as we celebrate the season of giving with those who give, as well as those who are in need. We look forward to 2018's celebration of the season.
We will again meet at Alki Masonic Center on December 22, 23, 24 and 25th, 2018. Volunteers with commercial cooking and serving experience are welcome and encouraged to join us.
Home baked cookies are welcome throughout the weekend. If you would like to volunteer, or donate home baked cookies please CONTACT US.
